It’s june 2019, the new AIAG-VDA FMEA manual has been released officially. The publication came as a result of more than 3-years of collaboration between AIAG and VDA. It is known as FMEA Handbook and represent the most significant change made to one of the widely-used core tools in the industry.
The new FMEA will now have a seven step approach instead of six in first draft.
Step 1: Planning and Preparation
Step 2: Structure Analysis
Step 3: Function Analysis
Step 4: Failure Analysis
Step 5: Risk Analysis
Step 6: Optimization
Step 7: Results Documentation
The implementation is expected to be in a ‘running change’ manner where customer will likely expect suppliers to apply the new method for new products.
Our FMEA training updated to the new edition will be available from July 2019 onward.
