On 3 Dec 2020, Our Industry Update Seminar series ran the AIAG VDA FMEA update. The seminar was held in virtual mode online, with participation of of close to 100 delegates from more than 50 organizations within the automotive supply chain. It was great to see such enthusiasm despite the country-wide lockdown movement control restriction due to Covid-19 pandemic.
This seminar was the third in a series on the AIAG VDA FMEA subject. The first was held on 24 April 2019 in Kuala Lumpur prior to the official publication of new FMEA manual on 3 June 2019. The second seminar was held in Penang on 12 July 2019.
After more than 100 training workshops held in the automotive supply chain in the last 18 months, there were much valuable experience we have gained with our clients. We compiled the top 10 list of typical implementation issues and common technical mistakes encountered to be shared in the seminar; among them include importance of 3-tier structure and emphasis for visualization method. There was a lengthy Q and A segment included to provide a platform for discussion of additional implementation issues. It was encouraging to see many good questions were raised by different segment of the supply chain. It’s apparent that after 18 months of the release of AIAG VDA Manual, car makers and tier one suppliers have made the switch to begin asking their suppliers to adopt the new FMEA.
